The working group for R&D at NOWC, in collaboration with SFI Smart Ocean, invite you to attend a webinar on how SFI Smart Ocean will develop a wireless observation system with high benefit to the offshore wind industry. The smart, wireless sensor network with focus on reliable integrity fsys and environmental data can be expanded to include also operational data. Programme:
  • 09:00 SFI Smart Ocean – an overview (Geir Anton Johansen (UiB), Centre director)
  • 09:15 Benefits to the offshore wind industry (Marie Bueie Holstad (NORCE), Deputy centre director)
  • 09:30 Discussions on what is needed for SFI Smart Ocean to maximise value for the offshore wind industry
This webinar is the first in a monthly series of webinars in which the member institutions in the working group for R&D at NOWC have an alternating responsibility. The working group for R&D at NOWC are starting a monthly serie of WEBINARS alternating responsibility by our member institutions. LINK WILL BE SENT A DAY UP FRONT!
SFI[1] Smart Ocean was established at University of Bergen in October 2020 to secure sustainable development and management of ocean resources. As of today, the center has 17 partners representing industry, industry clusters, research and development, as well national authority observers. The composition of partners with different background and competence stimulates innovation. The areas of application are general ocean industries, Petroleum, Offshore wind power, Aquaculture and Science in general. The Smart Ocean concept is based on a flexible low power acoustic network of autonomous intelligent sensors communicating with each other, buoys, ships, and land stations. The activity of the center is organized in several work packages and pilot demonstrators, and the presentation will focus particularly on the benefits to the offshore wind industry. Both required environmental measurements and structural integrity measurements are covered. The center is actively involved in education of students at BSc, MSc and PhD levels.
