The Norwegian offshore wind industry: - We can once again be world leading

The government today set a goal of 30 GW offshore wind by 2040. -This is completely in line with what our 360 member companies have wanted and can deliver on, says manager of Norwegian Offshore Wind, Arvid Nesse.

At a press conference today the government in Norway made the promise the offshore wind industry has been waiting for.

 -These ambitions mean that the Norwegian offshore wind industry can once again take the position as world leading. Building a solid domestic market strengthens the supply chain to also win international contracts. We are ready to deliver, says Nesse.

 Norway is a pioneer within floating technology and development, and Norwegian Offshore Wind is pleased that this positioned can be maintained.

 -We are very pleased to finally see a clear timeline for offshore wind in Norway. We get the predictability that the industry needs to get started and make investments, says Nesse.

 He believes that the areas in the pipeline, Utsira North and Southern North Sea, can be utilized even better.

 -We have given input on how we can get more capacity out of these projects, so that we can strengthen the industry also up to 2025, says Nesse.

 Norwegian Offshore Wind represents 361 member companies in offshore wind. In recent years, they have had an explosive growth in the number of members.

 -This industry will create jobs all over the country, in addition to Norwegian consumers getting clean electricity which will be cheaper with this powerful investment, says Nesse.

 -With high ambitions, profitability also becomes higher, because costs go down when the volume goes up, Nesse says.

 The government will start seabed investigations in the areas of the Northern North Sea and Utsira North already this summer.

 -This means that we can speed up the investment, and we are also very pleased with the signals that the licensing process will be more efficient. This is a day of joy for Norwegian industry, says Nesse.
