Visit Now: Italy

Puglia
Italy is a fast emerging market for floating offshore wind. We are bringing Norwegian companies down to Puglia to meet with key stakeholders, suppliers and developers in the Italian market.  Together with Innovation Norway and The Norwegian Embassy to Rome, Norwegian Offshore Wind are arranging a visit to Rome and the Puglia region in Southern Italy   Why should you attend:
  • Substantial market opportunities: Italy is a fastmoving offshore wind market. TERNA, the national grid operator, has received applications for grid connection of offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 94 GW. Our assessment shows that over 14 GW are in the pipeline from large developers such as Saipem, Falck Renewables, Bluefloat, ENI, Renexia and Copenhagen Infrastructure partners.
  • Fast route to market. The support scheme (FER 2 decree) will probably be a "Feed-in tariff". It will be an annual milestones auction from 2023-2027 with an expected offtake price of €165/MWh and support period of 25 years. The capacity of the scheme is expected to be 3.4 GW but will probably be increased to 10 GW. Based an adaptation of FER 2 decree in 2023 the first wind farms will probably take an investment decision in 2024/2025.
  • Puglia – hot spot for floating offshore wind:  The region has more than 4 GW of new floating wind projects in the pipeline and is therefore one of 3 hotspots in Italy. The region has Taranto and Brindisi two of the leading ports in Italy with capabilities and capacity to industrialise floating wind. Moreover, the region has strong fabrication capacity such as steelworks and blades fabrication for offshore wind. Vestas are now setting up new factory for blades in the regions.
Fee and practical information The visit will cost 200 Euros per participants that will cover planning and transport in Puglia.
