Wales-Norway matchmaking at Gobal Offshore Wind

The first UK commercial offshore wind farm was created off the coast of North Wales.  Currently 3 fixed-bottom offshore wind farms operate in North Wales waters.  With an additional 3.5GW capacity already granted sea bed leasing rights further out into the Irish Sea.  The Celtic Sea, off the coast of West Wales, has a capacity of circa 50GW, with sea bed rights for 4.5GW to be announced by the Crown Estate in 2024.  The new Freeports - Anglesey Freeport (North Wales) and the Celtic Freeport (West Wales) - are positioned to provide development areas for laydown, construction and installation as well as operations & maintenance.
